CHAPTER NINE
Tuesday Evening
Gabriel grabbed Kane and headed up to the bedroom. “Get undressed, but put on your sleep pants and a T-shirt. I want to take this slowly. The gods healed you and they made you as you were, a virgin, and since I have limited experience, we will move at a snail’s pace until the mating.”
Kane undressed for Gabriel. He had a hard-on. “I haven’t had one of these since the night we met; and then, because of the bruising, it was painful.”
“Does it hurt now?” Gabriel asked, worried that there was something he failed to do to make Kane whole.
“Not at all, except for needing you.”
“Get into bed and I’ll join you in a moment.” Gabriel undressed quickly as Sean got under the down comforter. Gabriel got into bed and pulled Kane into his arms. “Tonight we will only exchange kisses and conversation then you’ll sleep in my arms. Tomorrow we have more shopping to do.”
“Yeah, I still haven’t got anything for Sean, Colin, and Ian. They’re harder than I thought. Their Alphas buy them anything they look at for more than fifteen seconds.” Kane chuckled.
“I’m going to be just as bad. We have to go back to your apartment, give your landlord notice, and move you out. Do you have things you’d like to bring here?”
“I have electronics, but nothing as good as yours are. My furniture is all IKEA and I have no decorations except my dad’s textiles and my books. My kitchenware is all mismatched pieces I had put in storage when Dad died. I have a few mementos, but nothing that significant. I have Dad’s gold watch, which I always meant to have fixed. We should sell the furniture and electronics. I could donate the proceeds to a rape crisis center.”
“That’s an excellent idea. I know several that we give to regularly. How about we hang the textiles in the great room and mingle your books with mine? We have to pick out our rings and Mr. Blanc the jeweler can look at your dad’s watch to see if it can be fixed. The school semester begins on January fourth. Do you want to work?”
“Yes, the gods said that was my mission, to mold young minds. The children are going to be more upscale than the students I planned to teach, but…”
“Garou Industries employees are not only loup garou, their Mates and pack members. We have humans who have no idea of our existence that work for the company. Their children are also eligible to go to the Guy La Marche Academy and they come from all socioeconomic levels.”
“They aren’t solely admitted on the basis of their test scores are they? Because test scores don’t necessarily predict a student’s success in school.”
“We use test scores and personal interviews because you’re right, test scores don’t always tell the whole story. We talk to their former teachers and see not only what kind of student they were but what kind of teacher taught them. A student can’t be motivated by an indifferent teacher.
